Tailored Calls for Proposals
Typically the lifeblood of ITF collaborative technology activities, individual companies may find it beneficial for us to run tailored Calls for Proposals for them, based on their own and potentially unique, technology challenges. Companies may prefer to use this mechanism in situations where they do not wish to fund technology development collaboratively, or they may see this process as leading to a fast track launch of JIPs if the technology need is of sufficient high priority. Although the tailored Call for Proposals is run to the commissioning company’s specification, that company is of course free to subsequently open participation in any resulting JIPs to others if they so wish.
ITF has issued a large number of industry Calls Proposals since the organisation was formed in 1999. These Calls have typically been issued on behalf of all, or a group of, ITF Member Companies. We therefore have a long and established track record in effectively running this process to generate innovative technology solutions. In parallel, we have completed a number of tailored Calls for Proposals, commissioned by individual companies. A specific example was the issue of a ‘Reservoir Monitoring’ Call for Proposals on behalf of one ITF Member Company to meet a specific technology and operational challenge. In addition to be commissioned to run ITF Calls for Proposals, ITF also provided a Scottish Government body with specific oil and gas technology challenge information across key areas as input to their own Calls for Proposals.
