£6m innovation funding for cleaner, more efficient conventional fuels - Competition now open
Innovate UK has announced funding to support innovation that will reduce the environmental impact, improve efficiency and reduce cost of the extraction and/or use of conventional fossil fuels.
The competition is targeting three sectors in particular:
- Oil and Gas
- Power Generation
- Energy Intensive Industries
There are two strands to the competition
1. Feasibility studies
- Funding is available for feasibility studies led by SMEs and of typical total project size £100-150k with durations up to 12 months. Funding up to 70% is available

2. Collaborative R&D
- Funding is available for Collaborative R&D projects of typical total project size £250k-£1.5m and durations up to 3 years. Funding up to 60% is available

The competition opened for both types of project application on 2 March 2015. The deadline for feasibility studies, for which there is a single-stage process, is at noon on 10 June 2015. The deadline for expressions of interest for collaborative R&D, for which there is a two-stage process, is at noon on 15 April 2015.
