ITF through our members has top-of-the-supply-chain engagement to successfully execute technology development and deployment on their behalf.
In this context, we can be a powerful mechanism for developers to help get their technology developed and adopted by the industry. Our key role at ITF is to convince our members to invest in technology that meets their needs and solves their challenges, and we rely on technology developers to actively engage with us through our ongoing activities that include:
- Regular “Call for Proposals” work, where we approach and target the technology development community to submit technology development proposals to us against specific technology challenges identified by our members
- Workshops and events where we seek to connect developers with our members and provide an opportunity for developers to showcase their technologies that are directly relevant to our members needs on an ongoing basis. Such opportunities include technology workshops, bi-annual members meetings and our Annual Technology Showcase event where we provide opportunities for developers to connect with oil and gas operators and major oil and gas service companies. The showcase event also includes a conference event that engages senior industry people presenting and discussing the strategic technology needs for the industry and providing a platform for developers to present their technologies to a technology engaged audience from within our membership and the wider industry.
- Launching collaborative technology development projects with developers. A joint industry project is an excellent opportunity for a developer to showcase their technology to potential future clients. A key element of an ITF joint industry project is that the intellectual property remains with the developer. Our members want to stimulate and have access to the development of technologies that meet their needs, but not to own the technology. This is particularly the case when they are working collaboratively with other members to develop the technology.
Through our members, we seek to provide potential ITF developers and the development community at large with “voice of customer” validation for industry technology needs, thus reducing developers investment risk in new technology development. Working closely with our members, we want to provide developers with quick, widespread and effective connections to our members technology organisations in an environment in which our members are willing accept and act on these connections. For launching joint industry technology development projects, our objective is to increase success rate for project launch in a timely and effective manner.
Through our ongoing “Call for Proposals” activities, our workshops and events and working closely with relevant developer industry bodies, we continue to articulate and champion the technology needs of our members and by implication the wider industry, thus providing developers with vital information to support their technology efforts and investments. Our members through their ongoing investment in collaborative technology projects with developers, help to stimulate the development of technology that meets their needs for now and the future.
